Safa’s work is inspired by her experience as a mother to a picky eater toddler. She witnessed firsthand the transformative effect nourishing ingredients had on gut health. Today, she applies that insight to product and recipe development, crafting solutions that help children, especially those with selective eating habits, access the nutrition they need to thrive.

I had a 6 months old and was pregnant with my second child. My second pregnancy resulted in an aversion to anything resembling a healthy meal. Just the thought of anything other than carbs had my body in a state of severe nausea and a trip to the toilet. I couldn’t eat, prepare, or be around a “healthy meal.” When my son started solids, it was prepackaged finished food or bland complex carbohydrates. By the time Naya was born, Noah would vehemently protest anything resembling a balanced meal and started to have gastrointestinal issues.

I still have the screenshots of our conversation when Nina shared two recipes to help me feed Noah and essentially “hide” all the gut health goodness that would help soften his stool. I couldn’t believe it worked. Discovering bone broth is rich in essential nutrients that support healthy growth and development in toddlers, aiding in digestion and boosting their immune system, was news to me. I messaged her asking for more dinner ideas, and my passion for delicious recipe creation kids would love that didn’t just hit vegetable quota was born. I spent hours finding ways to remake his favourite foods from nuggets to pasta to desserts nutritious with every bite.

We started using bone broth in everything. We swapped oils and butters for tallow, particularly in recipes that required a high smoke point where oils could become toxic. Tallow provides healthy fats that are essential for brain development and energy in toddlers. It also contains vitamins A, D, E, and K, which support overall growth and immune health.
